What is this tool?
A word cloud places vocabulary in a non-linear visual space, which asks students to scan and recognize actively. It becomes an instructional activity when you add a clear task such as find, classify, connect, or explain.
How to use it
- Enter 10–25 terms from one unit.
- Give students a rule, such as “circle causes, underline effects, and box evidence.”
- Finish by asking students to speak or write with selected terms.
Classroom example: one-minute concept sort
Mix vocabulary from solids, liquids, gases, and changes of state. Students mark each category with a different symbol, compare with a partner, and explain one term they found difficult to place.
Teacher tips
- Avoid too many labels or translations on one page.
